Sub7 was invented in the late 1980's by a legend known as Mobman. Mobman wanted to make the basic tasks of a hacker easily accessable and easy to implement. I'm not sure what exactly he programmed it in, but it was probably something extremely difficult and involved, like Visual Basic or A+.
